Welcome to Smoky Mountain Dual Sport

Smoky Mountain Dual Sports Owner Owner

Owner of Smoky Mountain Dual Sports

I’m Terry Finchum, owner and tour guide for Smoky Mountain Dual Sport.  By day, I’m an Assistant Fire Chief with 18 years experience in fire fighting, but by night and on weekends, I’m an avid dual-sport rider.  Riding motorcycles has been a passion my entire life.

I started out at the age of 4 on a Honda 50, and today I ride a 1200GS BMW Adventure and a KTM 530EXR.   In addition, as a fire fighter, I have experience in back country tracking, C.P.R. and basic first aid; all of which can come in handy on the trail.

In 2009, I felt it was time to share my back country skills and love of dirt riding in and around the mountains of East Tennessee and Western North Carolina, with others riders who also have a passion to get out and explore!   Today, I, along with riding buddies Jess, Terry, Lee, Mike and Terrence who ride sweep, am proud to take you on the best off-road mountain adventure riding in the southeast.   If you are a good to moderate off-road rider and are looking for a great outdoor adventure, Smoky Mountain Dual Sport has a tour for you!

Picture Yourself Here. Smoky Mountain Dual Sport Can Make It Happen!

We are headquartered in the foothills of the Smoky Mountain National Park in East Tennessee, near the Tennessee/North Carolina line.  Millions of tourists come to our area annually to visit the national park, Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge and our famous tourist attractions such as Dollywood.  Most importantly slews of motorcycle riders choose our area as a final destination during their annual motorcycle pilgrimages. Whether they “slay the dragon”, “surf the Cherahala Skyway”, or “cruise the Blue Ridge Parkway”, they all start here.  Those of us that live here and ride truly know how lucky we are to have this motorcycle playground in OUR backyard.

Though we get thousands of riders every year daring to tackle our infamous paved roads, there are just a few who get to sample the miles and miles of twisty back road black top, gravel mountain top fire roads and national forest single tracks.  I specialize in these untapped, uncrowded and undiscovered back roads of the East Tennessee and Western North Carolina Mountains.  This is true dual-sport riding at its best!
